Tuel Lane News – 4th November 2021

Welcome back to school, we hope you had a lovely half term break. Thank you to all parents and carers for your understanding and cooperation on Wednesday when we had to close at very short notice due to a gas leak. Two sets of engineers came out to fix the problem, and by 5pm we were declared safe to reopen.

Attached to this newsletter you will find a parent/ carer survey. Please fill this out and return it to school to support us in providing the best care and education for your child.

Open Day

We are holding an open day for prospective new parents for both Nursery and Reception this Saturday 6th November from 9.30-11.30am. No appointments are necessary. Please spread the word to family and friends who are looking for Nursery and school places.

We are making plans for Christmas celebrations in school, whilst being mindful that Covid rates locally remain very high. Rather than a whole school Nativity, each class is planning an individual performance. Nursery are planning a Christmas open morning for parents and carers to attend.

Christmas parties will be held in each class, rather than a whole school disco. We are not planning to hold a Christmas Market this year. We’re hoping that by planning now to hold slightly smaller scale events, we will be able to allow celebrations and performances to go ahead safely. We’ll keep you updated and be in touch with more information and dates over the coming weeks.

Calderdale Safeguarding Services have written to all primary schools this week to raise awareness following reports across the authority that young children have been acting out games from the Squid Game Netflix series. The series features characters playing playground games but features graphic violence and is unsuitable for children. Calderdale have provided the following useful link with Netflix safety guidance advice, which we encourage parents to read:
